Art painting acrylic old masters flower still life

Acrylic on calico, 180 x 140 cm.

Something/someone occupies a place that does not belong to it/her/him, that is not due to it/her/him, that is new. What happens to a small, intimate still life when it becomes monumental? What remains, what gets lost, what is added? The series refers to one of the classic feminine subjects but in these works it claims a large – “masculine“ – format. The title alludes to Eliza Doolittle from the musical My Fair Lady: Eliza, the flower girl, is “re-educated“ by professor Higgins and assigned a new position. She holds her ground in the new role and stays true to herself.
